General public sign up will be made available on Thursday 8th of July. Please keep an eye on the social media, Discord, or website to see when this will be.

General Summary

Tsujigiri Global Drift Challenge, Pro Series will have the maximum number of drivers capped at 96 entries for Season 1 (2021).

To fulfil the strict requirement VDC have for their drivers in terms of competition experience and demonstration of required driving standard, and to give all drivers who receive licenses the best chance of being competitive upon stepping up to VDC, we have taken the decision to run TGDC as a 4-round championship with emphasis placed heavily on driver consistency.

Qualifying runs will be judged based upon:
Line – 50 Points
Angle – 20 Points
Speed – 20 Points
Style – 10 Points

All 3 judges will submit their score for each run, there is no separation of judges into separate categories. The average of the 3 scores will generate the run’s overall score. After both runs have been completed the average score of both runs will decide a driver’s qualifying score, and thereby their placement for battles.

This means that a driver who scores a 100 and a 0 (zero) would only receive a 50-point score for qualifying. A driver who scores an 80 and an 86 would score an 83.

Furthermore, the scoring of points for qualifying and event positions throughout the season means that a single good event is not necessarily guarantee of placing highly in the final part of the series. A driver who both qualifies 16th and finishes 16th at all events would out-score a driver who qualifies and places first at a single event but then fails to qualify at all other rounds.

Promotion, Relegation, and License Retention

As TGDC Pro is a feeder series to the highest level of drifting we must abide by the existing format for promotion to the Virtual Drift Championship.

In future TGDC will also be running a Street category. This will be the only route to enter TGDC Pro from season 2 onwards.

The progression route is expected to be:

TGDC Street – TGDC Pro – VDC

Due to the staggered nature of the championships throughout the year (TGDC Pro June to August, VDC and TGDC Street early in the year) it would be possible for a driver to progress through to the highest level within a single year if they are of the required standard.

To make the movement between each tier work correctly there will continue to be 16 licenses offered for VDC every season. The 48 middle-ranked TGDC Pro drivers will retain their licenses for the next season. For season 1 the lowest-ranked 32 drivers will have to re-earn their licenses for season 2 of TGDC Pro via the Street category. These drivers will be given highest priority sign-up for the Street series.

From Season 2 onwards TGDC Pro will only have 80 slots available. The relegation to Street will be the lowest-ranked 16, rather than 32, drivers.

There will always be 32 TGDC Pro licenses issued to the highest ranked 32 TGDC Street drivers.
